Why Must Thou Be?

This was a poem I wrote June 21 of 2013(some edits were made).
I believe I was still in Auschaffenburg then.

Why must thou be

One moment here, the next, less three.
So many gone, lost out at sea.
Found a loved One, died on a tree.
O' Death, why must thou be?

Artillery pounds, drop far as can see.
Some try to rebel, are caught while they flee.
When war is near, you're a decree.
O' Death, why must thou be?

In days long gone, said "Don't Tread on Me!"
But today is now, so hear my plea.
In the land of the blind, the cyclopse is free.
O' Death, we shall conquer thee.

But this I know, someday you'll be
Caught in Death's trap, you cannot flee.

Open doors to Heaven, or Hell will it be.
Seal your fate for all eternity.

If All is gone, who'll show mercy?
Ole'  Death won't, can't count on He.
